We also experienced the Palms from Palm Sunday 2017 being burnt to make the ashes ready for Ash Wednesday, it was a great experience for all students and they followed it up with some outstanding writing.

Numbers to 10
Maths focus: Our focus in Maths is our numbers to 10 and these photos show us mastering making our numbers with pipe cleaners, this also helps with fine motor skills. We can also be seen adding legs to the caterpillars and ordering our numbers and letters.
Room 1 are showing great progress and loving learning more about numbers.

Water Fun
Week 1 saw us with some extremely high temperatures so this called for relaxing afternoons and water play. A great way to spend two afternoons in our first week at school.
Classroom fun
We have spent the first week getting use to the classroom environment and trying a range of activities. Here is some of Room 1 in action.

Welcome Back Room 1!
Well in just a few days I will be welcoming 7 wonderful little people into Room 1!
I hope everyone has had a great holiday and is ready to get back into school and what 2018 has in store for us.
A few reminders:
I hope everyone has had a great holiday and is ready to get back into school and what 2018 has in store for us.
A few reminders:
- Make sure you bring your school sun hat to school on the first day back, the sun has been very hot over the summer and I think it is here to stay for a while longer so we want to be as sun smart as possible. You can see Mrs Key in the Office if you need a new one.
- Put on some sunblock before you come to school.
- Have you ordered your stationery? If not go to OfficeMax in town or order online at https://www.myschool.co.nz/. Make sure all of your children's books and uniform items are clearly named.
I am super excited to get back to school and hear all of the stories about the summer adventures! Enjoy your last week of holidays and I will see you all on Monday the 29th of January.
Amazing Writers
Room 1 have personal goals for writing which they are all aware of, when we achieve these it is a great celebration and sometimes we get to go and see Mrs Stanley for a treat!!

CARE Award - Karin
A very big congratulations to Karin for achieving her Bronze CARE award after only 6 months at school. Well done Karin.
Swimming Preparation
Swimming Preparation was a great importance in the learning and development of Room 1. We learnt what to pack into our bags when we go swimming.
Christmas Time
Room 1 had a very special guest over the month of December who kept an eye on Room 1 and reported back to Santa daily! However, he was a bit of a naughty elf!!!
Junior Joes
Three or four times a term Room 1 get the privilege of hanging out with the students who are due to start in our class soon. Here is a wee snippet of what we get up to during our lessons. They are certainly fun filled and hands on!
Certificates
It is always hard to choose who should get the certificates in Room 1 but these students certainly more than deserved their award!
