CARE Award - Karin

A very big congratulations to Karin for achieving her Bronze CARE award after only 6 months at school. Well done Karin.

Swimming Preparation

Swimming Preparation was a great importance in the learning and development of Room 1. We learnt what to pack into our bags when we go swimming.

Christmas Time

Room 1 had a very special guest over the month of December who kept an eye on Room 1 and reported back to Santa daily! However, he was a bit of a naughty elf!!!

Junior Joes

Three or four times a term Room 1 get the privilege of hanging out with the students who are due to start in our class soon. Here is a wee snippet of what we get up to during our lessons. They are certainly fun filled and hands on! 

Certificates

It is always hard to choose who should get the certificates in Room 1 but these students certainly more than deserved their award!

BRONZE Care Award - MAX

Yay! Max received his Bronze CARE Award last week. Keep up the amazing work Max!!!

Spanish Fun

Room 1 and 2 are very fortunate to have Mrs S teaching during the middle block each day. Last week Mrs S taught Room 1 the colours of the rainbow in Spanish. The students loved learning a new language.

Week 5 Certificates

Congratulations to Raukawa and Schuyler who have worked really hard to be organsied in class. Keep up the amazing work!

Art Gallery Trip

Room 1 had a fabulous trip to the art gallery. Check out the amazing pieces of art that were created.

CARE Award - Eti

Congratulations to Eti who received his Bronze CARE Award in Week 4. It was a lot of hard work and he totally deserved it.

Play Based Learning

In Room 1 we love to play and the learning that occurs whilst we are playing is fantastic. This morning Jack and Leo went about to create their own ten pin bowling lane with blocks and a plastic ball. The language I overheard was outstanding and it is great to watch them create their own fun before school.

CARE Award - Yulia

Congratulations to Yulia for receiving her Bronze CARE Award early term 4. She worked extremely hard to achieve this award.

Kiwisport with Naomi

Every term we have some fantastic sessions with Naomi from Sport Otago for our Kiwisport Sessions. This term we started off with learning some rugby skills. Check us out!

Outstanding Writing

This term for writing I(Miss Reeves) have the privilege of working with 16 wonderful writers. They have been working hard all term developing their skills and on Monday 13th November Max and Sera blew me away with their independent writing.

Making Tapa with Mrs Tofia

Over the past two terms the staff have been working with Mrs Tofia in developing culturally responsive writing practices in our classrooms. This term Mrs Tofia took some time out of her busy schedule to come in and teach all students how to make Tapa. The students got to hold traditional Tapa as well as watching a video of it being made in Samoa. The students then had a go at making their own Tapa.
