Room 1 had a special visitor on Wednesday

Room 1 had a special visitor today - Christina Tofilau - Amanda's mum. She came in to teach us how to say hello, goodbye, thank you, how top clap once and twice. We had such a great time with Mrs Tofilau and love having expert visitors in our classroom!!

Samoan Language Week

This week we are celebrating Samoan Language Week across the school. Room 1 have some exciting activities planned including a special visitor on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the blog for all the fun things we get up to this week as we learn more about Samoa, where Amanda comes from along with many other students in the school.

Dress Ups!

Friday Afternoons are used to let the students in Room One explore their creativity and develop their oral language through interaction with their peers. Today the students enjoyed the dress up box.

Hexagons - Skip Counting in 2s

This week the Hexagons have begun a focus on Multiplication and Division in Maths. The students have started by learning how to skip count in 2s to 10. Here is a video showing what they picked up after one lesson - they are amazingly fast learners!!!

New Students

Since the end of Term 1 we have welcomed 5 new students into our class and have 1 more boy starting in a couple of weeks. Alongside that we had 8 enthusiastic 4 year olds attend Junior Joes last week ready to start in Term 3. Check out the smiling faces of the 5 new students Room 1 has welcomed since the end of last term!

Netball Term 22017

Netball started for Year 3 0 6 students on Tuesday. Here are some photos showing what they get up to in  their skills sessions and games. Just a taster of what students can expect if they sign up to netball next year!

Maths Warm Up

This term and last term we have been focussing on number patterns to 10 and reading numbers to 20. Part of this is our warm up game that we begin every maths lesson with - loopy to 20. The child are loving this game and showing some fantastic improvements in their number knowledge to 20.

Week 2 Certificates

Congratulations to Meredith and James H for being the recipients of the first certificates for Term 2. Keep up the hard work Room 1.

On Monday Room 1 were treated to a trip to the Fortune Theatre as part of our Term 2 inquiry - why is performance important to the world around us?
This was a fantastic trip where we had a tour around both theatres, hopped up on stage and go to play some warm up games with Shannon our educator.

Kapahaka Term 2

Kapahaka began today with a fantastic effort from all students including the brand new students.
