We had class Mass today with Room 5. All the children did a wonderful job at singing, saying their prayers of the faithful and doing the offertory. Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents that came along to help support us.
This afternoon, Aroha (a parent of our school) came along to talk to us about the Dunedin Street art, as she has been involved in planning and painting some of the murals. Room 1 got very excited when they could recognise some of the murals that had already seen in town. This was a great start to our new Inquiry for this term "Art around us".
Today Constable Ross talked to us about what we need to do in an emergency. He taught us how to dial 111 and what information we need to know to tell the operators. We practiced in class with Constable Ross's phone.
St Joseph's Cathedral School was treated to the production of Kavanagh College's "The Wizard of Oz". We watched the whole show and we all thought it was outstanding. Well done to all people involved!
Constable Ross came to our class and talked to us about good secrets and bad secrets. A good secret is something that makes a person feel good (like a surprise party) a bad secret is something that makes us feel scared or sad. We talked about how we can keep ourselves safe if we are told a bad secret.
We went on a hunt around our school to find special places we can pray. We looked at the prayer tables in different classrooms and we found special crosses around our school.
