St Joes has talent!

As part of our Art around us Inquiry this term, the room 5 & 6 students invited to watch their talent show! Room 1 loved it!

Cracking a coconut!

Mr McArthur bought us some coconuts to try in class. We had to learn how to open one up by watching a youtube video. We found a hammer in Mrs Peeters' room and put what we learnt to the test! We also tried eating some of the flesh and drinking some of the coconut water. Some of us liked it and some of us thought it was a bit different!

Making a Tapa Cloth

We made a Tapa Cloth in class for Samoan Language Week. It was a big process!
First we drew our pictures (fish, turtle, plant, flower).
Then we crinkled the paper to make it look like it was a real tapa cloth.
Next we painted our paper in coffee to make it look brown.
After that we colored in our pictures with colors that made it look like a real tapa cloth.
Lastly we stuck all the pictures together to make our huge tapa cloth. It looks great!

The finished product!
